Someone once asked if feelings should precede the act of love. Many people assume they must have loving feelings toward someone before they can act in a caring way. I think a great answer to this is in Revelation 2:5, which commands us to “do again the first works.” I believe we need to act ourselves into a new way of feeling rather than feel ourselves into a new way of acting. An example for your people is your own daily demonstration of how you exhibit love by acts of ministry and pastoral care even when the person you serve may be difficult.
